The EDQM & Quality Assurance

Quality Management Systems

The EDQM continues implementing its system of quality management based on ISO 9001 (General Administration), ISO 17025 (laboratory) and the ISO Guide 34 (reference standards) and ISO 43-1 (PTS activities) to ensure optimal service to the parties concerned while improving the effectiveness of working methods.

New quality project

(01/12/08) After having set up its quality management system, the EDQM is continuing its actions in this area and has started to carry out the work needed to request ISO 9001 certification.  The first activity to apply for this official recognition will be the procedure for Certification of Suitability to the Monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEP). The certification audit is planned for the end of 2009.

The EDQM goes green..

As part of the environment management system that is being set up, the EDQM is taking part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by compensating CO2 emissions resulting from reference standards shipping.

Since 1st of January 2008, the EDQM has become involved in the DHL GOGREEN project which aims to calculate all CO2 emissions resulting from shipments made with this carrier to then compensate them with schemes such as the installation of solar panels in India and Sri Lanka, the production of biogas in Germany and reforestation projects in Brazil.

The EDQM ships over 27,000 parcels all over the world every year which inadvertedly contributes to the emission of greenhouse gas and contributes to global warming. The project is the first step of a more global plan to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
